The Neiman Marcus Fashion Awards began in 1938. Created by Carrie Marcus Neiman and Stanely Marcus. The awards included multiple recipients each year such as couturiers, designers, journalists, manufacturers, and celebrities.

The reason for Neiman Marcus Fashion Awards being above any other fashion award is that the awards weren’t restricted to Americans, and at that time I believe it was the first well-respected fashion award. Designers such as Elsa Schiaparelli, Christian Dior, Salvatore Ferragamo, Jacques Fath, Emilio Pucci, Pierre Balmain, Valentino, Oscar de la Renta, Coco Chanel, Roger Vivier, Emanuel Ungaro, Missoni, Giorgio Armani, Karl Lagerfeld, Issey Miyake, and Miuccia Prada… to name a few.

As a being who thoroughly appreciates fashion, I find it very important to reward people throughout the industry. Whatever your role is, I’ve come to understand that fashion is many moving pieces and that it takes a mass amount of people to make things truly happen. Therefore I appreciate it when I learn of fashion history holding award ceremonies to reciprocate the amount of work it takes to perform in fashion.

Stanley Marcus was a genuinely kind human but he appreciated fashion above everything – for all its worth by giving the designers [which the department stores sold] awards.

& I dream of attending a fashion award ceremony one day.
