“How do you wear it?” SJP asks for her collaboration with Gap which began in 2004. The 35th-anniversary campaign featured a choice amount of celebrities to represent the brand. But I’m only paying attention to Sarah Jessica Parker here and the infamous character played on Sex & The City… Carrie Bradshaw.
Fashionably late to the party as I like to be: Growing up I used to be aware of Sex and The City, just too young to understand. Seeing commercials on TV often advertised as I ran around the house as a child. Not knowing subconsciously how much I’d come to love and appreciate the comedic-sexy show that is SATC.
The number of commercials advertised must’ve been a lot cause I still can hear the theme song. The tutu Carrie is wearing while being splashed by the bus on which she is displayed for her column. What is it about this show that intrigues me so much? That I wake up in the morning and turn it on for a “fashion exercise” ~ to get my brain flowing – analyzing the fashion.
Patricia Field, this is where I thank you for everything.
As most of you know, I like to scan magazines. With that being said I’ve come across timeless images, advertisements, campaigns, runways, etc. But when I find a Sarah Jessica Parker Gap collaboration, my jaw drops. I think it might still be on the floor somewhere from a couple of days ago. Which is why I’m writing about this. My mind is transfixed on everything about this.

Fashionably late once again… Beginning in 2004, the first campaign debuted in August. The final episode for SATC was in February 2004. Only allowing a few quick months and leaving no momentum behind. Gap was the brand at the time and who better to solidify its importance than Sarah Jessica Parker? Nobody but her if you ask me. What makes this timeless? Well for starters, the show executes fashion across many levels. Telling stories through many fabrics. Patricia Field pulled pieces you will never see again. At least on cable TV.
